Prayer rooms at major Asian airports
Your connection is tight and you are looking for somewhere to pray before boarding.
Airports list their prayer rooms on their own websites, and the details differ: some rooms sit before security, some only after it, and a few terminals have none. This directory copies what each official site says, with the date we read it. Use it to match a room to the part of the airport you will be in.
Which airport has what, and on which side?
Read the last two columns first. Airport pages change after refits, so use the table to plan and confirm on arrival.
| Airport | What the official site lists | Source | Accessed |
|---|---|---|---|
| KLIA and klia2 | A klia2 prayer room on Level 1 opposite CAPSULE by Container1 and one on Level 2 behind Toys’R’us2 | klia2 official site | 19 October 2026. |
| Changi | Rooms in transit areas only, not open to the landside public5 | Changi Airport official site | 19 October 2026. |
| Haneda Terminal 1 | No prayer room listed13 | Tokyo Haneda Airport official site | 19 October 2026. |
| Haneda Terminal 2 | Two rooms on 3F International, landside14, and two on 2F International, airside15 | Tokyo Haneda Airport official site | 19 October 2026. |
| Haneda Terminal 3 | Two rooms on 3F in the general area16 | Tokyo Haneda Airport official site | 19 October 2026. |
| Incheon Terminal 1 | A room on the 3rd floor near Gate 2418 and one in the West Transfer Lounge on the 4th floor19, both open 24 hours | Incheon International Airport official site | 19 October 2026. |
| Istanbul Airport | 44 masjids, 22 for women and 22 for men20, plus three rooms for all faiths21 | Istanbul Airport (iGA) official site | 19 October 2026. |
| Suvarnabhumi | Muslim prayer rooms listed among the Midfield Satellite 1 concourse facilities22 | Suvarnabhumi Airport (AOT) official site | 19 October 2026. |
The klia2 shop names on the official page may be dated, so go by the level and ask staff. A room that is “listed” is not a promise it is open when you reach it.
Changi, terminal by terminal
Changi has the most detail on its page. The rooms are open 24 hours daily10, with ablution areas and qibla signage11. Changi states that its facilities have separate areas or rooms for men and women12.
- Terminal 1: Transit Level 3, Departure Transit Hall West, near the Cactus Garden6.
- Terminal 2: Transit Level 3, Departure Transit Hall Central, opposite Lift Lobby 217.
- Terminal 3: Transit Level 2, Departure Transit Hall South, near the baby care room8.
- Terminal 4: Transit Level 2M, Departure Transit Hall, near the smoking room9.
Other details worth knowing
Haneda says its prayer rooms have facilities for physical cleansing before worship17. That helps if you arrive from a long flight and want to make wudu properly.
For Friday prayers in Malaysia, the klia2 site says a prayer hall on the KLIA rooftop is available3. It also says airport management provides four free buses, two at each terminal, to the Sultan Abdul Samad Mosque at KLIA4.
More widely in Japan, JNTO says prayer rooms and mosques are mostly in larger cities, with major airports increasingly offering places to pray23.
Where is the data missing?
No official entry is recorded yet for Narita, Kansai, Taoyuan, Hong Kong, Don Mueang, Ho Chi Minh City, Bali, Dubai, Colombo or Male. That is a gap in this directory, not proof that an airport has no room. Look under the airport’s own passenger services page and note the date you read it.
Prayer times do not appear here, because they change by day and city. Use a prayer app and name the prayer you need, such as Zohor or Asar, then check your connection against its window. If you are travelling and want to combine prayers, ask your own ustaz or your state mufti office about jamak and qasar.
What next?
Put your layover into the prayer-stop itinerary checklist and mark which airport side you will be on. Read the Transit and preparation hub for the other airport checks.
If you pass through Japan, see prayer rooms at Japanese transit hubs. With older parents, long flights with older parents covers wudu and seating, and the guide to airport food courts in Asia helps you eat between flights.
Send us your connection airports and the length of each layover, and we will help you mark which prayer rooms are reachable on that journey.
Common questions
Can I use a prayer room if I only have a landside ticket?
It depends on the airport. Changi's prayer rooms are in the transit areas only, so you must be through immigration to reach them. Haneda has rooms on both sides in Terminal 2. Check which side your room is on before you leave the secure area.
Do airport prayer rooms have wudu facilities?
Some airports say so on their own pages. Changi lists ablution areas and qibla signage, and Haneda says its rooms have facilities for cleansing before worship. Where an official page is silent, plan to make wudu before you reach the airport or in the washroom.
What if my airport is not in the directory?
Open the airport's own website and look under facilities or passenger services, then screenshot the page with the date. A room's position can change after a terminal refit, so confirm at the information counter once you land.
Is there somewhere to pray Jumaat at KLIA?
The klia2 official site mentions a prayer hall on the KLIA rooftop for Friday prayers, and free airport buses to the Sultan Abdul Samad Mosque. Times of service are not in our records, so confirm on the day with airport staff.
