Our Editorial Policy

How we decide what to publish, who we are independent from and how we fix errors.

MuslimTravelQuest publishes planning guidance for Malaysian Muslims travelling in Asia. This page explains the rules our pages follow, so you can judge how far to trust them.

What do we publish?

We publish destination guides, itineraries, comparison guides, checklists, glossary entries and planning tools. Each page aims to answer one real question a traveller would ask, in plain language, in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese.

Each language is written fresh for its readers, not machine-translated from another version.

Where do our facts come from?

Every number, date, rule or attributed claim comes from our fact bank. Each entry carries a source link, the source’s name and the date we last read it. A fact that is not in the bank does not appear on the page.

Where something changes, such as visa rules or festival dates, we say so and send you to the official page. The methodology page explains the fact bank in detail.

What will we never say?

We never call a named restaurant, hotel, airline meal or tour halal or halal-certified. We never invent a review, a testimonial, a visit or a personal experience. We never publish a price we sell at, because we sell nothing.

We do not give religious rulings. We explain the practical side and refer fiqh questions to your own ustaz or the state mufti office.

Are we independent?

Yes, in how we write. We may receive a referral fee from a licensed Malaysian travel agency that we introduce, and the referral disclosure says so plainly. A fee never changes what a guide says about a claim, and no agency pays to be described a certain way.

How do we handle corrections?

If you find an error, message us on WhatsApp with the page name and, if possible, an official source. We check it against the source, correct the page, and update the date we last checked.

If a correction changes advice that could affect a booking or a meal choice, we state the change on the page.

How often do we review pages?

Volatile pages, such as entry rules, are reviewed more closely than stable ones, and each carries a note to check the official page before you fly. When a source changes, we update the fact bank first and then the pages that use it.

Who writes the pages?

The planning team at MuslimTravelQuest. We have not yet published named authors or credentials, and we will not claim any we cannot show. See about us for what is confirmed.

Prices, schedules and entry rules change. Check the details with the airline, the attraction or your travel agency close to your travel date.
