Five days in Seoul, paced around prayer
You want to see Seoul without rushing past Zohor or hunting for a meal at the last minute.

This plan gives you five easy days in Seoul, with Seoul Central Mosque on Day 2 and enough rest each afternoon for Zohor, Asar and a proper meal. It is made for first-timers and families. Prayer windows are named by prayer, so check the exact times on your prayer app each day.
Who is this plan for?
It suits first-time visitors, couples and families, including children and parents who tire easily. It is a planning outline, not a booking. Halal status of any restaurant must be checked by you, using the certificate steps below.
The route at a glance
- Day 1: Arrive at Incheon, rest, short evening walk.
- Day 2: Seoul Central Mosque and the neighbourhood around it, then Namsan Park.
- Day 3: Palaces and old streets, with a rest at the hotel.
- Day 4: A slow city day with shopping and the river park.
- Day 5: Leisurely last morning and departure.
Before you go
Korea’s foreign ministry extended its temporary K-ETA exemption through 31 December 2026, but the notice does not name Malaysia2. So check the official channel for your current status before you fly.
If a K-ETA applies, the fee is KRW 10,000 and approval generally takes within 72 hours3. Travellers without a valid K-ETA must submit the e-Arrival Card, available online starting 3 days before arrival4.
Korea is 1 hour ahead of Malaysia9, so set your prayer app to Seoul time when you land. Do not pack meat snacks. Incheon’s quarantine page lists meat, processed meat products and dairy as livestock products you must declare10.
Day by day
Day 1: Arrive and settle
Land at Incheon and take your time at immigration. Terminal 1 has a prayer room on the 3rd floor near Gate 24, open 24 hours7, and another in the West Transfer Lounge on the 4th floor8. Confirm your terminal first.
Check in, pray the next prayer in your room, and rest. Keep the evening to a short walk. For dinner, choose a place with a certificate you can see, or a simple pork-free fallback such as seafood or vegetable dishes, and treat that as unconfirmed.
Day 2: Seoul Central Mosque
Plan the morning around the mosque in Hannam-dong, which opened in 19761. Aim to arrive before the Zohor window so you can pray there if the visiting arrangements allow it. Message the mosque first.
For lunch, choose a restaurant that shows a certificate from a body JAKIM recognises. JAKIM’s 21 August 2026 list names two Korean bodies, the Korea Muslim Federation (KMF) and the Korea Halal Authority Corporation (KHA)5.
Check the expiry date. In the afternoon, walk through Namsan Park at an easy pace, then go back to the hotel to pray Asar and rest. Evening is free.
Day 3: Palaces and old streets
Visit a palace such as Gyeongbokgung in the morning, then walk to the old streets nearby. Return to your hotel for Zohor and a rest. This is the day older parents most need the break.
For lunch, bring a back-up. Hotel buffets need care. KTO warns that hotel restaurants and buffets categorised as Muslim-friendly may serve dishes that contain pork6.
After Asar, return to the historic streets. Pray Maghrib in your room or a prayer room found beforehand.
Day 4: A slow city day
Keep this day light. Spend the morning at the river park or a department store, and use the lunch hour to eat a certified meal, or order seafood and ask about sauces.
Pray Zohor at the hotel. In the evening, browse a market, and ask every stall about broth and sauces before you eat. See Korean barbecue and shared grills before you choose a barbecue dinner.
Day 5: Leisurely departure
Pray Subuh in your room, pack, and leave generous time for the airport. At Incheon, find the prayer room before check-in if you can. Eat a final breakfast somewhere you have already checked.
Where should you stay?
Choose an area near the mosque and a subway line, or one close to the palaces. Skip nightlife districts if you want quiet evenings.
Ask the hotel for a room with a clear qibla direction, and a place to rest between prayers. Our Seoul for Muslim travellers page compares the areas.
How to adjust this plan
- Shorter: drop Day 4, and keep the mosque and palace days.
- Slower: move one sight per day, and keep the hotel rest every afternoon.
- With young children: start late, finish early, and carry snacks that you checked at home.
- In winter: place indoor stops after Asar, since the afternoon window closes sooner.
What to book ahead and confirm in writing
Book lodging and any private tour first. Ask the agent in writing for the mosque stop, the prayer break each day, and which meals are certified or only pork-free.
Our Seoul quotation questions give the exact wording. For prayer rooms around the city, see Praying in South Korea, and for certificates, read Korea halal certification explained.
Use the prayer-stop itinerary checklist to test any plan against your own rules. Browse more Muslim tour packages if you want a guided option.
If you share your travel dates and who is coming, we can adjust these five days for your pace and send the meal and prayer questions to confirm in writing.
Common questions
Are five days enough for Seoul?
Five days gives you the main palaces, the mosque, a market evening and a slow day, with rest built in. If you travel with older parents or young children, keep to one major sight per half-day. If you have only three days, drop Day 4 and keep the mosque day and the palace day.
Can visitors pray at Seoul Central Mosque?
Visiting arrangements at a mosque can change, so do not rely on an old blog post. Message the mosque or check its official page before you go, and plan a back-up place to pray at your hotel. Women travelling alone may want to confirm the women's prayer area in advance.
Is Korean barbecue possible for us?
Only with care. A shared grill may also cook pork, so a pork-free label on the menu does not remove the problem. Look for a certified restaurant with a visible certificate, or choose a different cuisine for that night. Our Korean barbecue guide explains what to ask.
What if the prayer windows are short in winter?
In winter, the afternoon prayer window closes sooner, so Asar needs a place to stop earlier than you may expect. Check each day's times on your prayer app, and place museum or indoor stops late in the day. Keep outdoor palaces for the morning.
Do we need to book anything before we fly?
Book your lodging and any private tour first, since both shape the rest. Confirm the entry steps on the official Korean pages, and ask your agent to confirm meal and prayer arrangements in writing. A short message of three or four questions is enough.
