The 2027 federal schedule lists 15 public holidays5. The Ramadan start is an unofficial estimate from a travel blog, so rely on the JAKIM and state announcements instead.
What does the table tell a family planning a trip?
Read the dates, then ask the question that matters for your family.
- Raya falls inside the session. Aidilfitri 2026 on 21 March and Hari Raya Puasa 2027 on 10 and 11 March both sit between the session start and end dates. A trip around them may mean leave or school absence, not a term break.
- The 2027 dates can still move. A one-day shift after moon sighting would change a fixed itinerary. Book changeable flights and rooms until the date is declared.
- Aidiladha has a state difference. The second day on 18 May applies to Kelantan and Terengganu only, so the same week looks different for a family in Kuala Lumpur and one in Kota Bharu.
What if I want to travel during Ramadan?
Ask early who is travelling and whether they plan to fast. For fasting while travelling, ask your own ustaz or your state mufti office, because the practical choices differ between households. Are the 2027 Raya dates final?
No. The 2027 federal schedule marks Hari Raya Puasa as subject to change pending moon sighting, and the Ramadan start is an unofficial estimate. Treat them as planning dates and wait for the official announcement before paying anything that cannot be changed.
Does Raya fall during a school holiday?
Both Hari Raya Aidilfitri dates in the table sit inside the school session, not outside it. Whether a term break sits close to them is a question for the KPM calendar for your state group, which you should read before choosing travel dates.
Which school group is my child in?
KPM splits states into two groups. Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu are in Kumpulan A, and states such as Johor, Selangor, Penang, KL, Sabah and Sarawak are in Kumpulan B. The session start and end dates differ by a day between the groups.
Should I book flights before the dates are confirmed?
