Booking and confirmation
You are about to pay a deposit and want meals and prayer needs in writing first.

A Muslim-friendly holiday is only as reliable as the written confirmation behind it. Before you pay, you want the meals, the prayer stops and the room arrangements stated in a message you can show on the day.
This hub gathers every booking guide in the order you will meet them: what to send, what to confirm, who to book with and how to pay safely.
How should you use this hub?
Start at the top if you have not yet sent an enquiry. Jump to the deposit or agency sections if a quotation is already on your phone. Each page ends with something you can copy and send, so read one, send one message, then come back for the next.
What should you send and ask before you book?
These six pages cover the enquiry itself: what to include, how to word it and how to read the reply.
- What to send before booking a Muslim-friendly holiday: A one-message list of who is travelling and what each person needs, so the quote answers the right questions.
- How to word a halal meal enquiry that gets a clear answer: Wording that asks for evidence instead of a yes, so the reply can be checked.
- What a useful supplier reply looks like (and what a vague one hides): How to tell a specific answer from a vague one before any money moves.
- Which dietary and prayer arrangements should be confirmed in writing?: Which meal and prayer promises belong in an email, and which a phone call cannot protect.
- When a Muslim-tour label is not enough information to book: Why a Muslim-tour label alone is too thin to book on, and the next question to ask.
- The limits of special requests: what suppliers can and cannot promise: What a hotel, airline or tour can arrange, and what it can only note down.
How do you protect rooms, deposits and cancellations?
Money and room choices need their own checks, especially when Raya dates or a family layout can still change.
- Connecting rooms, extra beds and gender-separate floors: what you can request: Connecting rooms, extra beds and floors for families who need separate sleeping arrangements.
- Cancellation questions to ask before paying a tour deposit: The questions to settle on refunds and changes before a deposit leaves your account.
- Flexible or non-refundable bookings around Ramadan and Hari Raya: How to pick a fare type while Ramadan and Raya dates can still move.
- What travel insurance does and does not cover for religious-needs problems: What a policy may and may not cover when a prayer or meal arrangement fails.
Who are you booking with, and who answers if it goes wrong?
The label on the package matters less than the party responsible for it. These pages help you trace that party.
- Who is responsible: the operator, the agent or the local supplier?: Who answers when the operator, the agent and the local supplier each point at the other.
- How to check a Malaysian travel agency licence before you pay: A step-by-step licence check before you transfer any money to an agency.
- Booking direct or through an agency when you have religious needs: Booking yourself against using an agency when your needs are religious, not only practical.
- How MuslimTravelQuest earns money and how it affects our advice: How this site is funded and what that means for the advice you read.
- What happens when you WhatsApp us: What happens after you message us on WhatsApp, step by step.
How do you organise bookings for a group?
A group adds money held for others and different opinions on price. These pages are for the person who keeps the spreadsheet.
- How to choose a licensed Malaysian agency for a group trip with Muslim needs: A checklist for an organiser choosing a licensed agency for a group with Muslim needs.
- Collecting deposits from a group safely: what an organiser should and should not do: How to collect money from a group without putting yourself at risk.
- Comparing three group quotations: what to line up besides price: Lining up three group quotations on meals, prayer stops and refunds, not only price.
Where to go next
Turn your questions into one message with the dietary enquiry brief generator, then compare replies with the Muslim-tour inclusion comparator. If your doubts are about cost rather than paperwork, read Costs and value.

Common questions
When should I ask about halal meals and prayer stops?
Ask in your very first enquiry, before any deposit. Suppliers answer more carefully when the request arrives with the quote, and you can compare replies from different suppliers. A need raised after payment is much harder to get changed or refunded.
Is a phone call enough to confirm a meal arrangement?
A call helps you understand the supplier, but it leaves nothing to show later. Follow it with a short message that repeats what was agreed, and ask for a written reply. Written confirmation is what you point to if a meal or prayer stop is missed.
What if the supplier replies only with "no problem"?
Treat that as unknown, not as yes. A useful reply names the meal type, who prepares it and what evidence exists. Write back with two specific questions and see whether the answer gets more precise or stays vague.
Should I book directly or through an agency?
It depends on how much of the trip depends on religious arrangements. A licensed agency can carry a group booking and take responsibility for the package, while a direct booking gives you more control of each detail. The guides below compare the two for different readers.
How do I protect a deposit if dates may change?
Ask for the cancellation and change terms in writing before you pay, and note who holds the money. If Raya or Ramadan dates are still expected rather than declared, prefer a flexible option or a later payment date.
